I started Total Body Awakening with Carine over 7 years ago because of 10/10 thoracic/between shoulder back pain. I had spent the better part of a year going to physical therapy three times a week, acupuncture, yoga, massage, and multiple doctors. I had a poor reaction to muscle relaxants (so I only tried once). I was a 24 year old bedside nurse and I missed work with no diagnosis but pain to the point of immobility. I couldn’t breathe some days when it was at its worst. I had negative x-rays but persistent pain and was finally prescribed an MRI. The day the MRI came back negative, I was confused, upset and a lovely woman in my life at the time introduced me to Total Body Awakening that very day.
Needless to say, Carine changed my life. I could breathe after just one session. Her work is deep, eye-opening, and truly a practice to integrate mind, body and soul. I continued to go as prescribed by her (about once a week for 6 weeks) and MY PAIN DISAPPEARED. I suffered for the better part of a year treating this back pain in every way I could think of or try-and Carine had it under control in one session, and gone at the end of our treatment plan. This was 7 years ago and I still see her for body maintenance monthly or bi-monthly and other tweaks that come up. Sometimes I don’t even know there’s anything to work out at a maintenance session, but she finds it, works it and I feel lighter and better than ever when I leave.
The space between my shoulders is where I keep stress, so the pain can come and go. But Carine takes care if it when it comes up and it has never again been debilitating like it was when I first began Total Body Awakening.
I recently went to Carine for sciatica pain associated with pregnancy and other pregnancy-related symptoms, which helped immensely as well.
I am so grateful for the work that Carine shares with the world. She is honest, caring, confident, and a true professional who is so skilled—I would recommend her work to anyone for really any type of problem, especially back pain.
